Abstract

Tetramic acids, characterized by a pyrrolidine-2,4-dione core, are nitrogen-containing heterocycles known for their broad biological activity, including antimicrobial and anticancer effects. Pyreudione, a tetramic acid derivative, has attracted attention due to its cytotoxic properties and structural flexibility that enable structural modifications. Despite promising bioactivity, the development of tetramic acid-based drugs is often hindered by multistep synthesis and selectivity challenges. This study aims to develop a simplified synthetic pathway to obtain pyreudione derivatives with potential anticancer properties.
