Abstract

Corrosion of mild steel in acidic media is a widespread industrial problem, particularly in oil refineries, water treatment facilities, and chemical processing plants. The use of hydrochloric acid (HCl) for cleaning, pickling, and descaling exacerbates corrosion, leading to reduced structural integrity, safety hazards, and increased operational costs. Although synthetic corrosion inhibitors are available, they often pose health and environmental risks. This study addresses the urgent need for a green, non-toxic, and biodegradable inhibitor by evaluating the corrosion inhibition performance of Moringa oleifera leaf extract on mild steel in 1.0 M HCl at varying temperatures.
