Abstract

This study explores the use of edible plants in aquaponic systems to remove lead (Pb) from contaminated water, addressing environmental and food safety concerns. Heavy metal pollution, particularly from industrial and agricultural sources, poses significant risks to aquatic ecosystems and human health. Aquaponics, combining aquaculture and hydroponics, offers a sustainable solution by leveraging plant phytoremediation capabilities while producing food. The research focuses on evaluating the efficiency of Pb removal using plants like kangkong, bok choy, and mustard green, alongside assessing system stability and plant health under controlled contamination.
