Abstract

Tropical rain forests are major ecosystems with high biodiversity and important ecological roles. Malaysian hill dipterocarp forests are one of the ecologically most valuable forest but are currently increasingly under threat from anthropogenic influences like logging. The research was carried out in Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve (BLFR), which is a hill dipterocarp forest in Selangor, to evaluate the tree species composition, diversity, and tree structure of the forest. Despite the ecological importance of such forests, knowledge on their species composition and biomass contribution remains limited, hindering conservation efforts. The objectives of this study were to determine the species composition, quantify the forest structure, and estimate the biomass of tree species at BLFR.
