Abstract

Many countries have incorporated the design of landscape art installations in urban parks to increase the diversity of park landscapes and enrich the activities of visitors within the park. The main visitors to urban parks are the elderly. However, in urban areas, the lack of public resources limits the opportunities for the elderly to participate in physical exercise and social and recreational activities. Urban parks, as important public spaces, are crucial to the physical and mental health and well-being of the elderly. Most researchers have investigated the impact of urban park recreational spaces on the elderly, but few have examined the impact of landscape art installations in urban parks on the happiness of the elderly. Therefore, this study used importance-satisfaction analysis to quantitatively assess the impact of four elements of landscape art installations in urban parks on the elderly. Through a questionnaire survey of 401 elderly people, the importance and satisfaction of landscape art installations in urban parks were evaluated. In terms of data analysis, SPSS statistical software was used to process the questionnaire data, calculate the importance and satisfaction scores of each installation element, and compare the differences between the two to determine the elements that need improvement. The findings provide evidence-based guidance for age-friendly renewal practices of landscape art installations in urban parks in Shanghai, contributing to improved satisfaction of the elderly with the use of urban park landscape art installations, and enhancing the happiness of the elderly.
