The study assessed how financial literacy measures and retirement planning impact the demand for life insurance among university instructors at tertiary institutions owned by Lagos State. The research study used a cross-sectional survey research design, incorporating multiphase sampling approaches. Completed structured questionnaire from two hundred and seventy-three respondents were gathered from university lecturers in Lagos State-Owned tertiary institutions, and data were analysed using simple frequency percentages and multiple regression technique. Although there is a positive correlation between financial attitude, financial knowledge, and financial behaviour with the demand for life insurance, the variable of financial confidence shows an inverse correlation. The demand for life insurance is positively and significantly influenced by retirement planning. Therefore, it is recommended that ongoing endeavours be made to educate the general population on the significance of life insurance for improved financial planning. This, in turn, helps insurers to understand and serve suitable insurance plan that fits their clients’ financial plan.
Sunday Stephen Ajemunigbohun, Rasheed Olawale Azeez Copyright (c) 2024 - https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/1508 Wed, 06 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Consumer's Intentions Towards E-Wallets in the Philippines: A Systematic Literature Review https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/1297
Technology advancements and the internet's growth have contributed to the era of a cashless economy via electronic wallets (e-wallets). Several factors influence the usage of these electronic wallets. The main objective of this study is to review the increasing number of studies on consumers' intention to use e-wallets. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was employed, and works of literature were prepared using the Funneling Method. 110 articles were filtered, but only 15 were reviewed after screening using the criteria made by the researcher. This method is used to narrow down articles step-by-step and examine research data. Results showed that the most often mentioned factors influencing users' intentions to use e-wallets were security, perceived ease of use, trustworthiness, and usefulness. The sustainable provision of services is heavily reliant on sound public finance management in all levels of government. It is unfortunate that municipalities in South Africa are failing to effectively manage and use public funds to improve service delivery. Most South African municipalities have received negative audit opinions for years, and their current financial situation is deteriorating year after year. This is concerning for a country that has recently celebrated 30 years of democracy; it is unfortunate that democratic gains are being reversed due to issues within South African municipalities such as irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure, non-compliance, a lack of skills, a lack of consequence management, political infighting, corruption, and poor leadership, to name a few. Citizens are the ones who pay the price at the end of the day when services owed to them are not delivered by municipalities due to poor financial management. The objective of this paper is to examine the causes of unsatisfactory audit outcomes in the South African local government sector and recommend solutions to for improving financial management in South African municipalities. To achieve this objective, a systematic literature review was chosen as the appropriate research methodological strategy for this paper.
Mamahlodi Mashabela, Xolani Thusi Copyright (c) 2024 Xolani Thusi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/2430 Wed, 06 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Open-Source Enterprise Resource Planning Systems for Small and Medium Enterprises: A Conceptual Framework https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/3575
The growing importance of information management in the digital economy has exerted considerable pressure on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to implement advanced innovations in technology. This research uses purposive sampling with a sample of 100 SMEs registered at the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs, Padang Pariaman Regency. The data collection method used in this study was a survey. Questionnaires were distributed by visiting SMEs to their place of business directly. The results empirically prove that ICT and entrepreneurship orientation have a significant effect on the performance of SMEs. This research only uses two independent variables, so it needs additional mediating or moderating variables, such as innovation and learning orientation. Likewise, the respondents of this study were only SMEs in Padang Pariaman Regency with various types of businesses. This research provides valuable insights for educators and developers of mobile learning tools, underlining the need to prioritize usability and environmental support to optimize student engagement. The study’s implications can inform strategies for enhancing student interactions with digital marketing content, offering practical guidance for stakeholders aiming to elevate mobile-based educational experiences in Malaysia’s higher education sector.
Rozita Naina Mohamed, Halimahton Borhan, Mohd Saifullah Rusli, Khalilah Abd Hafiz , Azhana Othman , Abdul Rahim Ridzuan , Mohamad Idham Md Razak , Najihah Hanisah Marmaya Copyright (c) 2024 ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR HALIMAHTON BORHAN https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/3200 Wed, 06 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0100 Environmental Justice in the Age of Energy Transition: A Case Study of Shell's Operational Impact on Bayelsa State Ecosystem (2000-2023) https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/2818
This study investigates environmental justice within the context of the ongoing energy transition, focusing on the shell's operational impact on the ecosystem of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. It assesses the effects of shell's activities on local communities, particularly regarding environmental degradation and socioeconomic well-being. The research employs a descriptive design, surveying 290 respondents, including chiefs, community leaders, youths, and opinion leaders from ten purposively selected oil-producing communities in Bayelsa State. Data were collected using a self-designed questionnaire on environmental justice concerns and Shell's operational impact, with responses measured on a four-point Likert scale. The questionnaire's validity was ensured through expert review, with reliability confirmed by a Cronbach's alpha of 0.73. Data collection, achieved with a 91% response rate, involved frequency counts, percentages, means, standard deviations, and independent linear regression to test the null hypothesis at a 0.05 significance level. The findings reveal a statistically significant relationship between Shell's operational activities and the degradation of Bayelsa State's ecosystem. Additionally, the study discovered that community resistance significantly influences corporate accountability, with Shell's operations detrimentally affecting environmental justice and ecological integrity in the region. Thus this research contributes to the broader discourse on environmental justice during the energy transition, offering specific recommendations for Shell to adopt a human rights-based approach to its operations, emphasizing ecological restoration to address the environmental and social harms caused by its activities in oil-producing regions.

.
Tamaramiebi Timidi, Richman Oyindoubra Angiamaowei Copyright (c) 2024 Tamaramiebi Timidi, Richman Oyindoubra Angiamaowei https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal.uitm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/JIBE/article/view/2818 Wed, 06 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0100
