Development Journalism News MBG Program on Republica.co.id and Mediaindonesia.com: Content Analysis Study

This study discusses news about the free nutritious food (MBG) program published on republika.co.id and mediaindonesia.com. The government is promoting the MBG program as a fulfilment of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's campaign promise for the 2024 presidential election. The government is providing free nutritious food to schoolchildren throughout Indonesia. The issue is how journalism is implemented by the program. Republika.co.id and mediaindonesia.com regarding the MBG program. This study aims to explain the form of journalism of the two mainstream media. The research uses a quantitative-descriptive method with content analysis techniques—data sourced from news published on republika.co.id and mediaindonesia.com. Data were collected and categorised through news topics, news direction, and news sources. Then the data was processed through news coding. The results of this study indicate that republika.co.id and mediaindonesia.com both apply development journalism in presenting news about the MBG program. This is evidenced by the dominance of government elements as news sources, news directions that support government activities in implementing the MBG program. The news topics also focus on the implementation of the MBG program.
