ETHICS POLICY
ETHICS POLICY
This is the statement of ethics for Journal of Academia (JoA) published by Universiti Teknologi MARA, Negeri Sembilan Branch. JoA adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) standards on publication ethics. It covers code of ethics for chief editor, editorial board members, reviewers and authors.
DUTIES OF AUTHORS
- To ensure only new and original work is submitted for editorial evaluation. If the authors have used any literature/artwork, then it should be appropriately cited.
- To ensure the article submitted to JoA is not under review or simultaneously submitted to other journal for evaluation. Authors are only allowed to submit the article after formal rejection letter issued from JoA or authors write to withdraw the article anytime before the production process begins.
- To do necessary corrections as commented by chief editor, editors, reviewers or copyeditors to ensure a smooth publication process. Authors also responsible to inform Chief Editor if there is any inaccuracy of data in the published work. If a significant error needs to be amended, then a separate corrigendum will be published to highlight the changes.
- To make sure any content of the manuscript does not violate any proprietary or personal rights of others (including, without limitation, any copyrights or privacy rights.
- To declare and acknowledge any possible conflict of interest or funding bodies that involved in the research.
DUTIES OF REVIEWERS
- To disclose any conflict of interest regarding the assigned manuscript.
- To refuse to review any submission due to conflict of interest or inadequate of expertise.
- To carry out review process fairly, rationally and professionally.
- To report any ethical misconduct while reviewing (plagiarism) to the Chief Editor for further action.
- To not contact the authors or any related parties to regarding any comments on the assigned manuscript.
- To ensure the originality of manuscript and be alert on plagiarism or redundant publication.
- To adhere to the given due date for reviewing process and request for extension from Chief Editor if the due date cannot be met.
DUTIES OF EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBERS
- To assess the manuscripts for its content and language proficiency that assigned by Chief Editor.
- To appoint potential reviewers for the manuscripts that screened by Chief Editor and Editors.
- To re-evaluate the corrections that made by authors.
- To provide recommendation in terms of quality and suitability of manuscripts in accordance with JoA’s Aim and Scope.
- To promote the visibility of JoA in the appropriate platforms such as conferences, symposiums and workshops.
DUTIES OF CHIEF EDITOR
- To evaluate the suitability of manuscripts in terms of intellectual content and merit.
- To ensure the confidentiality of manuscripts and not disclose to third parties other than JoA editorial board members.
- To make final decision on the acceptance/rejection of the manuscripts.
- To engage with International editors and reviewers to uplift the quality of editorial process.
- To promote the visibility of JoA in the appropriate platforms such as conferences, symposiums and workshops.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
- A statement on the conflict of interest shall be included in the manuscript either as “Conflict of Interest” or at “Acknowledgement” section if authors receive any technical or financial support for the influence of the reported results in the manuscript.
AUTHORSHIP CONTRIBUTION
- Corresponding author must ensure all the listed authors have significant contribution to the intellectual part of the research paper.
- Others who have participated on certain substantive part of research work should be acknowledged in the “Acknowledgement” section.
- All co-authors must read and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
- All accepted and published articles are OPEN ACCESS and free to read/download by anyone from the world through JoA’s website. However, papers on acceptance become the copyright of the journal. However, the authors retain publishing rights with respect to Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
