Determination of Biodiversity Index Value of Tree Species in UCS Forest, UiTM Puncak Alam

Abstract

UiTM Campus Selangor (UCS) Forest, UiTM Puncak Alam is said to have experienced destructive logging activities in the last few decades. Deforestation activities have negatively affected this forest biodiversity by disrupting its ecological harmony. This study focuses on quantifying the biodiversity components of the tree species in the forest using various indices such as the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and Simpson’s Diversity index to investigate the forest’s biodiversity status. The purpose of this study is to analyze the variety of types of tree species, their relative abundance as well as their distributions within the UCS Forest.
