Photophysical Properties of 3,3’- Diethylthiacarbocyanine Iodide (DTCI) in Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) and Molecular Solvents
Keywords:
DTCI, DES, solventAbstract
Molecular solvents (MS) are extensively used in research and development industries. However, they have drawbacks, like toxicity, high volatility, and high polarity. Recently, green solvents have been found to be safer solvents by researchers. Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are green solvents that compromise low volatility and are non-toxic, non-hazardous, and biodegradable. However, these green solvents are relatively high in viscosity. Thus, 3,3’- Diethylthiacarbocyanine Iodide (DTCI), a fluorescent molecular rotor, is used as a probe in studying the viscosities and polarity of DES and MS.
