Abstract
This study analyzes the role of new media in enhancing Islamic economic systems, focusing on digital zakat and charity platforms in Malaysia. Using a qualitative analytical methodology, the study examines how social media platforms and smart applications contribute to increasing public awareness, enhancing transparency, and improving participation in Islamic economic practices. The findings reveal that Islamic charitable institutions in Malaysia, through the adoption of digital media, have increased zakat collection by 17.4%, with a notable rise in participation among youth aged 18-34. The study also identifies challenges associated with digital adoption, including digital literacy gaps and the need for continuous Shariah compliance. The study provides practical recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of these digital platforms.
