Guidelines For Authors
Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies as well as the author guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply login and begin the five-step process. Manuscripts submitted to the Malaysian Journal of Chemical Engineering & Technology must be original work that has not been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. All submissions will be peer-reviewed. Submission to this journal proceeds totally online. Submissions mailed to the editorial office will not be processed. Use the following guidelines to prepare your article:

Preparation of Manuscript
All submitted manuscripts shall be prepared using the latest MJCET template on a Microsoft Word document.  The manuscript should be written in English (UK) format and professionally edited for academic writing in error-free and grammatically correct English.

Article structure
Typically, for an original research article, the following structure applies: title page, abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, result and discussion, conclusion, acknowledgement, and references. For a review article, a suitable structure may be used accordingly.

Title Page.

  • Provide a concise and informative title for the manuscript.
  • A list of author full names (e.g., Adriana Mikayla, Lee Min Ho, James Patterson, etc.) and affiliations (department, institution, city, and country). Indicate all affiliations with a lowercase superscript letter before the author's name and in front of the respective address.
  • The corresponding author refers to the author who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, as well as post-publication.  Clearly indicate the corresponding author by an asterisk (*) at the author list, and a complete email address must be provided.

Changes to authorship
Authors are strongly advised to ensure the correct author group, the corresponding author, and the order of authors at submission. Changes in authorship by adding or deleting authors and/or changes in the corresponding author and/or the sequence of authors are not accepted after the acceptance of a manuscript.

Abstract: A concise, short, informative, and descriptive summary of the project within a paragraph not exceeding 250 words. A good abstract must provide the research purpose, activities, and findings of the project. It is advisable for the author to highlight the most significant findings or observations that would attract the attention of readers.

Keywords. A list of ten words or short phrases chosen to reflect the content of the paper. Use a comma (",") to separate the keywords. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Introduction. State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.

Material and methods. Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference; only relevant modifications should be described.  When specific equipment and materials are used, please provide manufacturer’s details (name, country, model, etc.)

Theory/calculation. A theory section should extend, not repeat, the background to the article already dealt with in the introduction and lay the foundation for further work. In contrast, a calculation section represents a practical development on a theoretical basis.

Results and discussions. The results of an experiment or modelling work should be properly presented in suitable figures or tables.  Repetition of data presentation should be avoided; hence, the author should choose a suitable presentation that better represents the results accurately. In this section, the presentation of the findings and reasoning for the outcome must be scientifically sound and as clearly as possible to ensure good overall research project understanding.

Conclusions. The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section.

Acknowledgement. The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section.

Acknowledge those who have made important contributions to your research, such as grant providers, universities, the government, or any authority bodies.

References. All the references cited in the manuscript shall be listed in the reference list. All references used for the manuscript should be arranged by the surname of the first author in alphabetical order.

Author Contribution Statement
Authorship and collaboration particulars must be clearly stated, acknowledged, or listed in the publication for those who make significant contributions to the report. Only those who have made significant contributions should be listed as the main author, co-author, and corresponding author. All listed authors must approve the final version of the paper and agree to the version before submission. Complete information must be added from the beginning of the submission of the manuscript in the metadata for verification of the originality of the authors involved with the manuscript.

Reference Style
References cited in the manuscript should be listed according to the American Psychological Association's (APA) 7th edition format. The following table shows examples of the reference type and its citation style.

Figure and Table
All the figures should be supplied in high-quality format and resolution to ensure readability. The lettering used for the figures should be sized consistently at about 8–10 pt. (use Helvetica or Arial fonts). Avoid effects such as shading, outline letters, etc.  The figure caption should be placed beneath the figure and must be cited in the body text. Should the figure be obtained from a source such as an article written or published by another author or journal publisher, kindly furnish proof that confirms the figure has been legally permitted to be reproduced in your manuscript. Figures should be limited to 8 figures only, with a maximum number of subfigures of six in each figure (Fig. 1 (i)–(v)). Only supply the most important figure(s) that aid your manuscript.

Tables are centred, and the caption is above the tables. Text within the table should be in 9-point font (Times New Roman) and left indented. The table should be limited to 8 tables only. Repetition of data presentation should be avoided. Choose the presentation that represents the results accurately.

Revision Manuscript
Revised manuscripts should be returned, including revision notes. The revision notes should address the issues raised in the referee report and clearly state per page (indicate paragraph and line) which changes have been made. Additional materials may be requested at the discretion of the editor.

Conflicts of Interest
A statement on conflict of interest must be included in the manuscript if authors receive any support that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

All direct and indirect conflicts of interest related to the work must be disclosed before submission for publication. Any interests that emerged within the span of three years from the beginning of the work, including conducting the research and the preparation of the submission, should be reported. Interests that arose outside of the three-year period must be disclosed if there is reasonable suspicion that they could influence the submission of the work. These disclosures help provide a complete and transparent process that enables readers to assess and form their own opinions regarding the potential bias. However, it is important to note that this does not mean that the organisation sponsoring the research or any compensation received for consulting work is considered inappropriate.

Editorial Board members and editors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest. Any conflicts shared may result in their removal from the peer review process and their exclusion from handling manuscripts. This includes, but is not limited to, having collaborated on a published work with one or more of the authors and being within the same institution as one or more of the authors. Any editors or editorial board members who are listed as authors must be included in the conflict of interest section of the submitted manuscript. A different editor or member of the editorial board will be assigned to take on the responsibility of overseeing the peer review if the previous editor or editorial board member is the author of the manuscript or has any competing interests related to the specific manuscript. These submissions are subject to the same review process, just like any other manuscript. Editorial members are welcome to submit papers to the journal. Note that priority will not be given to these submissions, and the Editorial Board member status does not influence editorial consideration.

Similarity Index
All articles submitted must pass an initial check to ensure originality, with a maximum similarity not exceeding 30%, before being sent for peer review.
