Abstract

This article aims to discuss the role of top management in determining oral history collection development in Malaysian state public libraries. The research method is a qualitative multiple case study in four Malaysian state public libraries. A case study methodology was created, which included a research framework, data gathering plan and interview schedule. A cross-case analysis was undertaken and data from semi-structured interviews and documents provide evidence the top management roles. The findings show a significant impact of top management on history collection development. Top management plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of oral history projects by providing enough infrastructure, financial support, moral support, and participation.
