Cultural heritage preservation is evolving in response to the digital native generations: Generation Z (born 1997–2012), Generation Alpha (born 2013–2025), and Generation Beta (born after 2025). This review examines how these generations shape contemporary preservation strategies. A systematic literature review was conducted, analysing research from cultural studies, digital anthropology, education, and heritage management to identify generational characteristics and their impact on heritage preservation. Findings reveal a shift from traditional preservation methods toward participatory, technology-driven approaches. Generation Z prefers digital accessibility, while Generation Alpha engages through immersive learning. Limited research on Generation Beta suggests an emerging reliance on AI and ambient computing. The review emphasises the importance of inclusive, technology-integrated preservation strategies. It identifies research gaps, particularly regarding Generation Beta, and suggests future directions for developing sustainable frameworks that cater to the evolving needs of this generation. The study highlights the transformative impact of digital native generations on the preservation of cultural heritage. Embracing digital tools and participatory methods will ensure more effective and inclusive preservation efforts.
