Heavy metal pollution poses a serious threat to human health and environmental safety. Therefore, researchers are highly concerned about finding low-cost and safe biochar modification solutions. This study used rice bran and mussel shell powder as raw materials to synthesize calcium phytate biochar. The synthesis conditions were optimized based on the characterization and adsorption experiment results. The results showed that the raw biochar synthesized by the hydrothermal carbonization method under 200 ℃ (H-200) had the largest surface area of 51.09 m2∙g-1. The biochar synthesized from H-200 at different ratios of phytic acid and mussel shell powder became rough in surface and possessed rich mesoporous structures and key functional groups such as C-O, -OH, and C=O that enhanced adsorption. The sample 1P-1.5 exhibited the best adsorption effect 60.06 % of Cd2+ and 99.98 % of Pb2+, indicating potential for further applied research.
