Publication Malpractice Statement
Malaysian Journal of Sport Science and Recreation (MJSSR)
The Malaysian Journal of Sport Science and Recreation (MJSSR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all forms of publication malpractice seriously. In accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), all parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers—are expected to adhere to the following ethical standards:
1. Duties of Authors
-
Authors must ensure that their work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by any other journal.
-
Proper citations and acknowledgements of sources and previous work must be included.
-
All authors must significantly contribute to the research and must approve the final version of the manuscript.
-
Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication is considered unethical and unacceptable.
2. Duties of Editors
-
Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the manuscript's academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
-
Editors must ensure a fair and unbiased review process and must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or editorial board members.
-
Editors shall take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted or published manuscript.
3. Duties of Reviewers
-
Reviewers must conduct objective, confidential, and timely reviews based on academic merit.
-
They must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
-
Reviewers should report any suspected ethical misconduct to the editor.
4. Plagiarism and Misconduct
-
MJSSR uses plagiarism detection software to screen all submitted manuscripts.
-
Any manuscript found to have violated ethical practices, such as plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data manipulation, or improper authorship, will be rejected, and the authors may be blacklisted from future submission.
5. Corrections and Retractions
-
In cases where errors or ethical breaches are discovered after publication, MJSSR will issue appropriate corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as needed, in line with COPE guidelines.
MJSSR is committed to fostering a culture of ethical scholarly publishing and expects all stakeholders to adhere to these principles to ensure the integrity and quality of the journal.
