Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Voice of Academia (VoA) recognises the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing and research. The journal permits the responsible and transparent use of AI as an assistive tool, in line with guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Guidelines: https://publicationethics.org/guidance/cope-position/authorship-and-ai-tools
AI tools may be used for limited purposes such as language editing, grammar correction and formatting. However, AI must not be used to generate original research content, data analysis, interpretation or scholarly conclusions.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances, as they are unable to take responsibility for the content of a manuscript.
Authors must fully disclose any use of AI tools in their manuscript. This disclosure should clearly indicate the name of the tool, how it was used and where it was applied (for example in the Methods or Acknowledgements section).
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity and originality of all content in their manuscript, including any content generated or assisted by AI tools. All AI-generated material must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors.
Editors may use AI tools for technical checks such as plagiarism detection or language support. However, AI must not be used to make editorial decisions or to replace human judgment in the peer review process.
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscript content to AI tools, as this may compromise confidentiality and data integrity.
