Aims and Scope

Aims

The ASEAN Entrepreneurship Journal (AEJ) is an international peer reviewed journal that publishes scholarly research in entrepreneurship and new venture development. The journal provides a forum for research that contributes to understanding entrepreneurial activity, venture development and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

AEJ has a particular interest in entrepreneurship in ASEAN and other emerging and developing economies, including the economic, institutional, technological, social and cultural contexts in which entrepreneurship takes place. Research from other geographical contexts is also considered where it provides relevant insights for entrepreneurship research.

The journal welcomes empirical, conceptual, theoretical, methodological and review studies using appropriate quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods or other research approaches.

ASEAN and Emerging Economy Context

AEJ particularly welcomes research that examines entrepreneurship in ASEAN and other emerging and developing economies. Studies may address the institutional, economic, technological, social and cultural factors that shape entrepreneurial activity and venture development in these contexts.

Comparative studies involving ASEAN countries and other geographical regions are also welcome when they provide relevant insights into entrepreneurship.

AEJ is international in scope and does not restrict submissions to research conducted in ASEAN countries.

Research Quality and Relevance

AEJ considers manuscripts that demonstrate:

  • A clearly defined research problem and purpose
  • Appropriate engagement with relevant literature
  • An appropriate and transparent research methodology
  • Evidence based analysis and interpretation
  • A clear contribution to entrepreneurship research
  • Relevant implications for research, policy, education or practice, where appropriate

Manuscripts should clearly explain their relevance to the journal's focus and demonstrate how the study contributes to existing understanding of entrepreneurship.
