Corrections, Retractions and Withdrawals

The ASEAN Entrepreneurship Journal (AEJ) maintains the accuracy and integrity of its published record. Where errors or publication ethics concerns are identified, AEJ may issue a correction, expression of concern, retraction or withdrawal, depending on the circumstances.

Corrections

AEJ may publish a correction when an error affects part of a published article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.

Corrections may address errors in text, data, authorship, references or other published information.

A correction notice will identify the affected article and describe the correction. Where technically possible, the notice will be linked to the published article.

Retractions

AEJ may retract a published article when there is sufficient evidence that its findings or conclusions are unreliable or that serious publication or research ethics concerns have occurred.

Reasons for retraction may include:

• unreliable or invalid data or findings;
• fabrication or falsification;
• plagiarism or serious redundant publication;
• unethical research;
• serious undisclosed conflicts of interest that affected the work; or
• significant manipulation of the peer review or publication process.

A retraction notice will identify the article and state the reason for retraction. The notice and article will remain linked where technically possible so that the publication record is clear.

Expressions of Concern

AEJ may publish an Expression of Concern where a significant concern has been raised but available information is insufficient to determine whether correction or retraction is appropriate.

An Expression of Concern may remain in place while relevant information or investigations are being considered.

Withdrawal Before Publication

An accepted or submitted manuscript may be withdrawn before publication where:

• the authors request withdrawal for a valid reason;
• serious errors are identified;
• publication ethics concerns require withdrawal; or
• the manuscript is found to be unsuitable for publication.

Withdrawal decisions are made by the editorial team based on the circumstances of each case.

Post Publication Action

Requests concerning errors or publication ethics issues should be submitted to the AEJ editorial office with sufficient information to identify the article and explain the concern.

AEJ will assess the available information and may request clarification or supporting evidence before deciding whether further action is required.

AEJ may consult authors, reviewers, institutions or other appropriate parties where necessary.

All corrections, expressions of concern and retractions are handled in accordance with the AEJ Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and relevant COPE guidance.
