Use of Generative AI Policy

The ASEAN Entrepreneurship Journal (AEJ) permits the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI assisted technologies in research and manuscript preparation. Their use must not compromise research integrity, originality, confidentiality or editorial independence.

Authors

Authors may use AI tools for language improvement, manuscript organisation and other appropriate purposes. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of their work and must verify all AI assisted content, including references, citations, factual statements and research findings.

Substantive use of generative AI must be disclosed in the manuscript. Basic spelling, grammar and punctuation assistance does not require disclosure.

AI Disclosure

Authors should provide the following statement where applicable:

Declaration of Generative AI and AI Assisted Technologies: During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name of tool] for [purpose]. The author(s) reviewed, verified and edited the AI assisted content and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality and integrity of the work. AI tools are not authors or contributors under the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT).

Where AI is used as part of the research methodology or data analysis, its use must be described in the appropriate section of the manuscript.

Authorship and Research Integrity

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co authors. Human authors remain responsible for all CRediT contributor roles attributed to them.

AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, generate misleading findings, manipulate results, plagiarise content or create fabricated references.

Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and unpublished information. They must not upload confidential manuscript content into AI systems where confidentiality, privacy or intellectual property cannot be assured.

AI tools must not replace independent human judgement in peer review or editorial decision making.

Policy Compliance

Suspected inappropriate or undisclosed use of AI may be assessed under the AEJ Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

AEJ reviews this policy when necessary to reflect developments in generative AI, research integrity and scholarly publishing.
