Corrections and Retractions Policy

The Journal of Islamic Philanthropy & Social Finance (JIPSF) is committed to preserving the accuracy, integrity and transparency of the scholarly record. The journal manages post-publication corrections and retractions in accordance with the principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and recognised standards of responsible scholarly publishing.

Corrections Policy

JIPSF will issue a formal correction when a published article contains a significant error or omission that affects its accuracy, clarity, interpretation or reproducibility but does not invalidate the article's principal findings or conclusions.

Corrections may be issued for, but are not limited to:

• errors in the text, tables, figures or supplementary materials;
• incorrect author names, affiliations or correspondence details;
• errors in references, citations, DOI information or other bibliographic metadata;
• substantive errors affecting the interpretation or transparency of the research; and
• other errors requiring amendment of the published record.

All corrections will be published as a separate correction notice, linked permanently to the original article. The original article will remain part of the scholarly record. Minor typographical, grammatical or formatting errors that do not affect the scientific content or interpretation of the article may be corrected without issuing a formal correction notice.

Retractions Policy

JIPSF will retract a published article when there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable or that the publication process has been seriously compromised.

Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:

• major errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions;
• fabrication or falsification of data, results or research records;
• plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of another person's work;
• duplicate or redundant publication;
• serious breaches of research ethics, including the absence of required ethical approval or informed consent, where applicable;
• manipulation of the peer-review or editorial process;
• undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially affect the integrity of the research or publication; and
• other forms of research or publication misconduct that undermine the reliability of the published work.

Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record and maintain the integrity of the published literature. It is not a disciplinary action against the authors.

A retracted article will remain accessible on the journal website to preserve the scholarly record. The article will be clearly identified as Retracted, and a retraction notice explaining the reason for the retraction will be published and permanently linked to the original article. Articles will not normally be removed from the journal website unless required by legal or regulatory obligations.

Expressions of Concern Policy

JIPSF may publish an Expression of Concern when credible evidence raises questions regarding the integrity or reliability of a published article but the available evidence is insufficient to support a correction or retraction, or when an investigation is ongoing.

Investigation and Decision-Making

Allegations of research or publication misconduct may be submitted by authors, readers, reviewers, editors or other parties. The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board where appropriate, will assess all concerns fairly, objectively and confidentially.

The journal may seek information or clarification from the authors, reviewers, editors, authors' institutions, research ethics committees, funding bodies or other relevant authorities before making an editorial decision.

Following the completion of an investigation, JIPSF will take appropriate editorial action, including the publication of a correction, retraction or Expression of Concern, where necessary. All decisions will be made in accordance with the COPE Core Practices and the COPE Retraction Guidelines to ensure the integrity of the scholarly record.
