Vol. 8 No. 1 (2026)Vol. 8 No. 1 (March 2026) of the Journal of Islamic Philanthropy and Social Finance (JIPSF) presents a broad and multidisciplinary collection of nine articles that advance scholarly discourse in Islamic philanthropy, social finance, and related socio-economic fields. Reflecting JIPSF's aim to publish research and conceptual works on emerging issues in areas such as waqf, zakat, Islamic finance, charity, and Islamic microfinance, this issue brings together both conceptual and empirical studies from Malaysia, Nigeria, and Afghanistan, offering local and international perspectives on contemporary challenges and opportunities within the Islamic social finance ecosystem. The contributions explore a wide range of themes, including trends in waqf awareness among Malaysian Muslims, innovative approaches to waqf management through gamification and digital platforms, the role of new media in enhancing digital zakat and charitable giving, and the fundamentals of waqf land development for sustainable socio-economic impact. The issue also extends beyond traditional philanthropy studies by examining halal business decision-making through the application of the Fuzzy TOPSIS method for supplier selection, the importance of quality control in strengthening customer trust, and the influence of religious values on Muslim workers' adoption of Islamic credit cards. Complementing these discussions are empirical investigations into Islamic financial inclusion in Northwest Nigeria and the institutional determinants of Islamic microfinance in Afghanistan, highlighting the role of Islamic financial institutions in promoting equitable access to finance and sustainable development. The issue showcases both empirical and conceptual contributions that address contemporary challenges and opportunities within the Islamic social finance ecosystem. Several articles examine the role of Islamic social finance in improving societal well-being, including studies on the effects of the Zakat Index, Islamic Human Development Index (I-HDI), and unemployment on poverty reduction, as well as research on service quality perceptions among asnaf entrepreneurs. The issue also highlights governance and accountability concerns through an investigation of social outcome reporting challenges faced by Malaysian non-profit Islamic organisations. Financial and investment-related topics are represented through studies that apply the TOPSIS method to assess financial performance in Malaysia’s renewable energy and transportation sectors, alongside an analysis of the behaviour of conventional and Islamic bonds during the COVID-19 period. The issue further explores the impact of Islamic financial literacy on retirement planning behaviour among university academics. Several articles focus on halal awareness and Shariah compliance, including studies on Malaysian consumers’ awareness of halal-logo products and the implementation of the halal-tayyiban concept within the food industry. Other contributions address Islamic legal and ethical concerns in the digital era, such as online gambling, digital gambling in financial markets, and the Shariah ruling on Bitcoin trading. A central theme of the issue is the relationship between human capital and organizational effectiveness. Several studies investigate how factors such as employee competency, work attitude, motivation, leadership style, supervision, teamwork, and workplace environment influence employee performance and productivity. Many of these analyses are based on evidence from plantation companies, government agencies, and financial institutions in Indonesia, highlighting practical strategies for enhancing organizational outcomes. The issue also addresses aspects of financial management and corporate performance. Articles examine the financial performance of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange and evaluate the relationship between financial ratios and profit growth in the banking sector.
