Vol. 7 No. 1 (2025): March 2025 Issue
Vol. 7 No. 1 (2025): March 2025 Issue of the Journal of Islamic Philanthropy & Social Finance (JIPSF) contains 10 articles that explore contemporary issues in Islamic social finance, halal studies, Shariah governance, digital ethics, and socio-economic well-being. Consistent with JIPSF’s multidisciplinary scope, the issue brings together research and review papers that examine the application of Islamic principles to emerging social, financial, and technological challenges. Several articles focus on halal awareness and Shariah compliance, including studies on Malaysian consumers’ awareness of halal-logo products and the implementation of the halal-tayyiban concept within the food industry. Other contributions address Islamic legal and ethical concerns in the digital era, such as online gambling, digital gambling in financial markets, and the Shariah ruling on Bitcoin trading. The issue also examines the presence of gharar (uncertainty) in e-wallet and e-commerce transactions, providing valuable insights into the evolving landscape of digital finance and consumer protection. Beyond financial and commercial issues, the issue highlights broader social concerns affecting Muslim communities. Articles discuss the roles of government and society in strengthening national harmony, the impact of social media and 3R (race, religion, and royalty) issues, and the importance of tabayyun (verification) in managing emotional responses to sensitive public discourse. Collectively, the 10 articles contribute to a deeper understanding of how Islamic values can guide ethical decision-making, social cohesion, consumer behaviour, and financial practices in a rapidly changing environment. The issue offers useful perspectives for academics, policymakers, industry practitioners, and stakeholders involved in Islamic philanthropy, social finance, and public policy
